Using CSS in "Styles" to hide a form element

Hi experts, i am trying to use custom css in styles in order to hide a element. I im stuggling to get the sintax right. I do not want to use visibility rules, because that will not record in the DB, i just want to hide the element in the UI. Can please anyone tell the css sintax and if this is the right place?

      You can use display "none" which will hide the input from view.
